Yes, I as you believe that they tried to intentionally hoodwink you.
I'd say evidence points to this, as when you asked them about having the
proper Diagonal in stock, you got now answer.

I'm happy you brought this to all our attention.
I'm positive they will now lose much more money than the money they
screwed you out of.

One issue I question, is just how far PayPal will stand behind you? As
another poster mentioned, a Charge Card would probably be a better,
safer method of purchasing from a business.

If you were ordering a Lumicon Diagonal, why didn't you just order the
item from Lumicon direct?

I'm hoping that you didn't make a second mistake by ordering from
Adorama?

Adorama may have taken your order, but you may find weeks will pass, and
nothing's coming.
I strongly doubt they have this item you seek in stock.

I've bought a couple of items many years ago from Adorama, stuff like a
Canon power winder for a Canon A-1, and other relatively inexpensive
Camera related gear, but never Astro Equipment.

Sometimes trying to seek the lowest price will get you a shady business,
which has no care of you as an Astro-Customer, and doesn't know the
product.

You remember the old Astroptx? God, am I glad he's gone! What a first
