I'd ruugh the curve on the metal on a lathe and finsish with SiC and a
matching metal surface. You can do it all with grit also if you are
interested but it will take some time as the metal doesn't chip as nicely as
metals do.
Speculum mirrors were done by using sand and that was really slow.
