e2 Telescope Design Quitting Business Sale

Friends of e2 Scopes,
After 3 years of building the finest dobsonian mount telescope kits available, Eric and Eric are hanging up the shop aprons and putting away the safety glasses. A big "thank you" to all of you who have supported us over the years, and we hope you all are continuing to enjoy your e2 scope.

So why are we closing our doors? Well, it turns out that stainless steel hardware, top quality Finn-Form, and our other materials are very expensive. After factoring in the general costs of running a business, we were basically only covering the materials and not making anything for our labor, which is considerable for each scope. Customer interest to date did not indicate that we could raise the prices to a level necessary to make money and still sell scopes. On the other hand, we had a great time, learned a lot about tooling and production manufacturing, met a lot of nice people, and got a nice fleet of telescopes for ourselves.

For those of you who have always wanted one of our hand crafted kits, we have great news for you. We are selling our remaining inventory of dobsonian mount kits on a progressive sale basis. Starting on Monday, August 22 all of our remaining telescopes will be discounted by 10% from the original prices. The discount will continue to increase every week based on the following schedule:

8/21-8/28 10% off
8/29-9/4 20% off
9/5-9/11 30% off
9/12-918 40% off
9/19-9/25 50% off

On the 26th of September all remaining kits will be donated to charity. It simply not worth it for us to sell them for any less than this.

You won't be order to directly from the website through Paypal since it will have the retail prices. Send us an email indicating your intent to buy, and we'll confirm that we still have what you are looking for and will arrange a payment method. If you still want to use Paypal, we will send you a specific request for payment.

Here's what we have left in the inventory:

3 - 6 inch scope mounts
1 - complete 6 inch scope, with optics, fully assembled and covered
5 - 8 inch scope mounts
3 - 10 inch scope mounts

For the mounts, we are still willing to fabricate custom frames to fit the diameter of your existing tube, provided it will fit in the spacing of the mount. Any other customization would be impossible since we do not have the materials available to make any more parts. When these are sold, that's it.

The complete 6" scope is one of our demo models. It has been used many times, and if you've seen us at star parties, you've probably looked through this scope (it is the gold one on our web page). On the one hand, it is used. On the other hand, it is fully assembled, which is not usually a service we provide. The tube prep involves a considerable amount of work. We believe these two factors offset each other, so the base price will be the same price listed on the web page - $725.

When these telescope kits are gone, we will not be making any more, so don't wait too long to get in on this great offer. For those of you who already have 6", 8", or 10" telescope from another manufacturer, but are unsatisfied with the construction and quality of the mount, remember that we will still modify our rocker-box assembly of an e2 scope to fit your existing OTA.

Thanks for everything,

--
