What would you be using the scope for? For DSO stuff
those fast doublets (f/5 thru f/8) should be fine at
low power. I don't think they will be all that great
for planetary stuff though. Too much color, even with
a minus violet filter.
See the review I just posted of the Orion 90mm refractor
(f/10). I just got one and am very pleased with it. This
scope is more more suitable for 'all around' viewing
(including planetary stuff) and would work better with
a minus violet filter, IMO. I really don't think the
aperture difference between 90 and 120mm (around 75% for
light grasp) is terribly significant.
If your budget is tight and you like DSO stuff I would
recommend a 6-8" reflector (Like an Orion Dobsonian - 'SkyQuest')
which can be had for the same price (or less) than the Orion
refractors and will show more detail on DSOs...
