In fishing, there are three stages of development often cited. First you
want to catch as many fish as you can. Then when the heavy creel game wears
thin, you turn to pursuing the trophy fish. When the quest for greatness
fails to satisfy, you either quit fishing or you realize it is the act of
fishing you love.
People play the aperture game until they own a scope so large that they
dread setting it up. Or they play the strehl game until all they see are
flaws in the optics. Both can be diversions from enjoying the night sky.
