adapting orion intelliscope to other models?

I've always put off buying DSCs because I though the ~$500 price tag
for box and encoders was way too much. Now I see orion has a kit to
update their skyview mount.

Does anyone have any thought about if this kit could be adapted to
other telescopes? I have a CM1100 that I would have to upgrade in this
way. However, I hate to buy the $200 kit and find it isn't doable!?!?

Can anyone point me in the direction of others that may be thinking or
doing this??
