I had a CG-5. I sold it and purchased a GM8. The GM8 was a big step up
in quality and stability. To answer your question, yes, it is a vast
improvement over the CG-5 and well worth the price. I was very happy
with the change.
On a related topic, I added the Gemini system to my GM8, but didn't use
it much. I would not purchase any auto-slew system again, but I think
that is a personal choice. There was nothing wrong with the Gemini per
se.
