What would anyone recommend for good, economical planetarium software? I am not looking for software for extensive planning for observing with a telescope, but one that gives really good, realistic looking renditions of the night sky, and has few software glitches. I was thinking about The Sky Six, but I don't want to buy it because they don't have a demo to try out.
In the past, I was disappointed by Starry Night because of computer OpenGL and compatibility problems, and I want to stay away from that one.

I have just installed stellarium (google to find) . Its free ,looks nice and looks accurate. You can switch skyglow ,surface visible/invisible,and a number of other things. Others are, Cartes du chiel, starchartgl, adastra, celestia. (I hope i did not forget an important one.) Al of these look usefull. But i like the appearence of stellarium most, the view does represent the look of the current sky very well(for me -)-)-) ). .
