I predict that the box with aluminum foil will get very hot. Bare
aluminum strongly absorbs IR. That is why things that need to stay cool
in the Sun (like observatory domes) are painted white, not shiny
aluminum.
Gold is a good reflector of IR- might be interesting to gold plate the
back of one of your boxes. What's your budget? <g>
