Ruby Binocular Coatings

Is there any practical advantage to "Ruby" red binocular coatings?

One possible advantage I can think of is reduction of chromatic aberration
by eliminating the far red wavelengths, due to imperfect chromatic
correction in inexpensive binoculars.
