Don't like December in New York?
Then you won't care for January..... it's usually worse! :)
I live either south or north of you (Binghamton or Indian Lake)
depending on which house I'm at. I've been a CCD imager since 1994. So far
I've taken exactly zero CCD images in January - Dec and Feb, yes, but Jan
no. On the few nights that it was actually clear the temp was something
like -15 F. The dome doesn't like turning and the PC doesn't like booting at
temps like that. Late December and January are a good time for New York
astronomers to catch up on their theory and telescope making/repair
projects!
