Try again

I asked this the other day and got no answer, so I'll try again.
This am I went outside and checked old Babylon 8, this time almost 80% of
the main mirror was almost black in color, as the day got warmer over the
next two hours the black went away and to look at it now it looks good.
The only thing I can even guess at is that the cold ( 28F last night ) damp
air is causing the silver coating to turn black.
Is it time to start thinking about a recoating?
