When I was driving "The BEAST" ( ford f250 pu with all kinds of beefed up
running gear) and I carried Babylon 8 in it, I picked up from a yard sale
the mattrest from a babybed, that went down on top of a moving pad, so I
could pull or push it on the truck bed. I then found a couch someone had
dumped that had formrubber cushions, i stipped the covers off them.
I would place the scope on the bed, push it up the truck bed, place the
formrubber blocks, one on each side and bunji cord the whole thing down.
It worked just fine and cost next to nothing.

I'm considering building a cradle to transport my OTA in, rather than
just toss it in the front seat on a bundle of bubble wrap (which
probably wouldn't fit anyway as it's 36 inches long and 12 inch
diameter.) I drive a small pickup and want to be able to transport
the OTA in the bed, with reasonable protection against shock. I've
been considering a wood frame with foam supports (including the end
pieces which came with the OTA.) and using some Velcro straps to secure
it. What approaches have others tried?
