I am about ready to purchase a new scope. I would like to know what

am confused. What type would you buy?

If money is no concern, why not buy several affordable scopes? Buy a
decent SCT, a decent refractor, a decent small portable scope, and a
decent pair of binoculars. Don't buy them in a department store, instead
go to a dedicated telescope store.

When you have all these instruments, try them all. Try to do
different kinds of observing, to find out what you are most interested
in doing (your question seems to indicate that you're not sure about
this). Do this for 2-3 years - after that you ought to know what you
really want to do, and what kind of scope you enjoy using most. If
you use all of them, well keep them all. But if you end up using one
or several of them only rarely, sell these rearely used scopes or - if
money indeed is of no concern to you - donate them to an astronomy
club of your choice.

The key here is knowing more precisely what you want to do - once you
know that, the choice of scope becomes much easier. But we can't tell
you what you want to do, that's something you must find out for yourself.

Good luck!
