Thanks for the explanation of troll.
I am really glad I found this forum. I will be reading all the info
from now on.
Hi and welcome :)
One note about this place (s.a.a.) there are plenty of idiots here
(like me) that as much as we come to learn, come to be entertained
as well. So you will see lot's of off topic posts, and some flame throwing going on here. Then there are the trolls, who most times
get jumped on mercilessly. You might not want to read everything here.
Learn how to use your mail reader's message filter (killfile)
Trust me, after a while, you will be using it relentlessly.
Being a firefighter (thank you for your profession, which has
saved my ass before) you should be used to messed up people, just remember that the really messed up one's here deserve no mercy.
Now that we got that out of the way.........
Decide what you really want to look at. Your 16" has/will spoil you
for deep sky viewing of faint objects, so you are set there, which
in and of itself is a very BIG deal. Figure out what you want to view
FIRST, then it will make it easier to figure out what kind of scope
you will want/need next. For wide field views, and good refractor
is usually the best, tho YMMV.
Telescopes are like gun's to serious hunters. Different one's are
for different purposes.
