What am I doing wrong? A little help for a beginner...

I just picked up a Celestron Firstscope 60 with an equatorial mount.
Last night I was just trying to get used to focusing on things and I
ran into trouble with anything but the largest 20mm lens. I could focus
on the moon just fine with the 20mm lens. However, if I attached the 3x
barlow tube with the 20mm lens all I could see of the moon was a light
yellow blob. I spent 10 minutes going back and forth with the focus
knob and I couldn't get it to focus at all. I even tried with the 1.5x
reverse image tube for land viewing, and still no focus.
Is the moon too close to focus with my scope at higher magnafication?
Also, are there any tips to adjust my finder scope. I point my finder
scope right on a star and my main scope sees in to the upper left of
that spot.
Thanks guys.
