Hi Jim-
I do use VNC to connect to my Linux machine, which doesn't even have a
monitor attached. But VNC has some limitations in terms of support for
24-bit color, and I don't find image processing across it to work very
well. So I normally have IRAF open an X window on my PC.
I use VNC in the other direction ... sitting at my Linux box in my
office, connecting to the PCs which run the telescope and CCD at our
observatory. It's usually pretty reliable, but I also find that images
don't display very well. Fortunately I don't need to do any significant
real-time image analysis.
