Re: Worst winter skies for years

The excuse that you had to get up isn't 100% valid for one reason; The
length
of the winter night. We (unfortunately) as observers coming from urban
areas condition
ourselves to starting observing too late on winter nights when we know
it gets dark
at around 5:30pm and stays that way until early morning. Contrast this
to summer when
(in the northeast anyway) we only get about 4-5 hours of true darkness,
starting at about
11:00pm. So, we eat dinner, we lounge around looking at TV then about
(maybe 8-9ish) we might go out, which gives us little time to observe,
because we have to go to bed at some point.
