There's a _reason_ for that. s.a.a. is NOT about astronomy in general.
While we'll occasionally discuss the latest Hubble shot, the doings of
NASA, or news from the most recent AAS convention, that's not what
we're here for.

We're here to discuss _observational_ astronomy...that is, amateur
astronomy. Including:

Equipment.
Observing conditons.
What we saw.

I'd guess that you're either:

A) Not an amateur astronomer and happened on this site and assumed that
because "astronomy" is in the title we're a general interest astronomy
group. Again, we're not. As above, this group is devoted to the
PRACTICE of amateur astronomy.


You practice astrophotography and that does not constitute
observational astronomy.Your sole purpose is making objects appear
bigger hence that does not constitute observational astronomy never
mind the perceptual astronomy of Kepler and Copernicus.

Let me explicitly demote your hobby to astrophotography through the
words of Kepler just so you can have a ball with your equipment in
future without considering yourself an astronomer,amateur or otherwise
-

B) Just another troll in a long line of Nancys, Danny Mins, Oriels, and
Shawn Grants. This would be indicated by the fact that you've changed
your screenname at least once, which is usually done to defeat peoples'
killfiles. Also by this post. Stuff like, "Pretty lame ducks here" is
generally designed to stimulate the outraged responses (and thus
ATTENTION) that trolls crave.

I hope the anwer is "A." In either case, you'd probably be more happy
with these groups:

sci.astro: This is our parent group. It's now largely devoted to
general astronomy discussions, "theory" discussions (including
participants' own special theories), and _much_ off-topic arguing and
trolling.

alt.astronomy: Much like sci.astro, only _moreso_.

Quite a few general discussion Yahoogroups like Starry Nights (though
these groups are moderated, and people not willing to follow the rules
will be ejected in short order).
