I have owned LXD55, LXD75, LXD650, and LXD750 mounts in addition to a
Losmandy G11. Then I bought a Tak EM11 which is an EM 10 upgraded with
more or bigger bearings. I wish I'd just spent the money a long time
ago and been done with it. The Tak is expensive but carries 25 + lbs
and will still take a 15 min CCD Inmage with almost perfect stars. I am
getting ready to sell the EM 11 as I just bought a EM 200.
Buy My TAK, you'll be glad you did, Bill

Hi I have only ever owned dobs and I want to get an GEM telescope but I
ideally would like to get one with a mount that I can use for different
OTA's. If I do this with the LXD75/55 would I be limited to Meade
scopes and with the CG5 would I only use Celestrons, and what is the
EM10 like? Basically I want to buy a scope and mount but would like the
option to upgrade to a better scope in the future (the one I get now
will be relatively inexpensive) without having to buy a completely new
mount. Is that too much to ask? The above mounts come with the scopes
that I am looking at, which one would be best? Is there a great deal of
difference betweeen them?
Any info would be great, thanks.
