Why Questars are so great

They're "uncomplicated" to put it succinctly.
Often I've attended star parties where I and most of the other
attendees have fallen into the trap of being bogged down with
equipment. Heavy OTAs, too many OTAs, complicated mounts, cases of
eyepieces/filters, a laptop computer, CCDs and of course wires
everywhere. Then there are the ancillaries: RVs, campers, propane
stoves, sewer hookups, mountain bikes, portable TVs ... etc.
Meanwhile the lone Q owner will often pull up in a small fuel efficient
hatchback, unpack a small folding table, comfortable beach chair, small
folding tent, sleeping bag, Coleman cooler and of course a portable
leather case containing his entire observatory. He's setup within 20
minutes and relaxing with a good book while the other attendees are
still trying to park their roving McMansions.
No uncomfortable positions needed with the Q either, unlike the large
retractors which require painful yoga positons to glimpse the summer
triangle or the big dobs which require scaffolding.
The Questar 3.5 is still the most ingenious scope made.
