FedEx delivery blues?

Hey, I hear rumors that FedEx will sometimes list something as
delivered on their tracking website, even though you haven't received
it yet. Then, you get it the next delivery day.
The drivers do that so as to avoid penalties for missing scheduled
delivery dates.
Anyone else have that problem, or am I about to go through a big claim
hassle over a scope I was supposed to get Friday, then Saturday (the
day they show it delivered), now FedEx support has left a message with
the local office when they open Tuesday morning.
Is this unique? I've never had the problem with FedEx before. Holy
Cow, even UPS has been very good for me.
