Applying differential rotation to the Earth's mantle over the entire
length of the rotational axis positively determines that this is the
mechanism for the Earth's deviation from a perfect sphere.
It is also the mechanism for crustal motion of the fractured plates
which profile the Earth's shape.The Sun's differential rotation
provides a rough guide for the behavior of the Earth's mantle -

For the first time it is possible to mesh the astronomical dynamics of
the Earth's rotation with crustal motion and subsequently short term
events like Earthquakes and volcanoes.
This is what astronomers do,at least real astronomers.
