This may have alredy been discussed, but how comes ICelestron AdvancedIt is down to bulk selling, of the more common combination. It is exactly
Series SCT telescopes with CG5 mounts are cheeper than the optics
(OTA) alone?
I am thinking of buying a C11 SGT, but worried that their optics may
some how be inferior than other models. Any comments and insights from
current AS owners or other experts appriciated?
Thanks Lalith
the same as 'packages' on motor cars. For instance, on the Audi range, for
one particular model, the 'leather upholstery' option, is about $1800, yet
their 'luxury pack', with leather upholstery, Xenon headlights, walnut
trim etc, costs exactly the same! (and I do mean exactly the same, the
price is the same down to the cents). The key is that obviously they have
the plant all set up to put the whole 'bundle' together, and doing the
leather on it's own, is harder for them to do, than the whole bundle...
Now it does mean, that if you just want the OTA, the cheapest way to get
it, is to buy the 'bundle', and then sell the mount.
The optics are identical, except, it my be _possible_, to get the OTA on
it's own in a Hyperstar configuration, when the bundled version is only
available without this, but I doubt it now (it used to be possible, but I
don't think the tubes now made, have any with this option).
Best Wishes
