That is correct. The Space Pen Rules! I have one and it will write
horizontally or upside down. Very useful.

(could just be U.L.) that we spent millions developing a pen that would
write in outer space. The Russians solution was to use a pencil.
It is an urban legend. The Russians and Americans both used pencils
till Fisher (not NASA) developed the Space Pen.
