Bill;

Hope that you are not in danger from the fires. One of my
brothers-in-law had the El Cajon fire in his back yard.

The reason you are not mentioned in the news is because there are more
cows where you are than people ;^). California has more people than
sense. They keep living there despite getting burned out every few years.

While I did not go outside the other night to look at the moon my back
yard looked like it was being illuminated by a large stop light.

Hi Dave,
All is well so far. The smoke is considerably thinner now than it was
last night.

A few days ago we lost electrical power for a few hours in the evening
and for a few more hours the following day. (No electricity in a
rural area means no energy to pump water from wells -- meaning no
water). A house and one or two mobile homes were lost a couple days
ago a few (less than 10) miles away.

My location can be easily and safely evacuated if necessary; but at
the moment we're looking good to stay.

As I was typing this I heard a helicopter. I looked out and saw a
helicopter carrying one of those big, orange, water buckets.
Yesterday the chopper passed overhead several times going to and from
one of the fires. There seems to have been fewer trips today.

Dave, I'm curious. What was causing the red moon as seen from your
back yard?
