I paid full retail for my new pocket Altas and I think it would be

I think I deserve to receive the product that I paid for, and if the
original was defective, it should have a warranty of some sort, like
multitudinous products sold in our economy, and be replaced with a
properly corrected version, not some paste on PDF file that I am
admittedly too stupid and indignant ( as well as short of time) to
download in order to patch my new sky atlas together in the way that I
originaly thought it would arrive, after all the advertising hype about
how great it was.
Yet people happily buy buggy software that then requires you to
download patches to fix it. Why do you expect books to be any
different? At least they are offering a patch, unlike so many other
publishers that print errata on their websites and then wait for the
next edition to make the corrections.
I don't accept compassion towards the screw ups of poor proof reading /
editing work as an excuse to somehow accept a defective piece of work
in a free enterprise society.
You really need to get out more (and no, not to look through
telescopes). The errors are quite minor compared to other publications.
