There are free PDF converters. That said I would avoid the bloated
inconvenient PDF if your goal is to have your material read online. If
your goal is for the consumer to print your reading material PDF is a
good way to go.
Interesting. I would say that what dictates my choice of PDF vs HTML is
how much I care about how the text/images are formatted. If I create a
PDF, that's almost entirely under my control. If it's HTML, I have some
control, but I'm at least partly at the mercy of the viewer's browser.
Also, if I want to display complex equations without employing a bunch
of images, I'm better off doing a PDF.
