Re: Who cares?

One's belief system is based entirely on chance.

Where and when you were born will reinforce your belief system in
politics, religion, sport, morals, neighbours, hobbies, employment,
health, food, water, consumer products, theft, murder, waste,
recycling, alternatives, transport, alcohol, drug missuse, science,
animal rights, etc.

Whom you meet quite by chance throughout your life will affect your
belief system in all of the above. Your belief system becomes ever more
secondhand throughout your life and your beliefs may be diluted or
reinforced quite by chance.

Most people's belief systems are based on what their parent told them,
what they were told at school and what they read in the newspapers or
see on TV. Nothing you have collected along the way is necessarily true
and can become a stack of cards quite by chance,

It is an apallingly poor basis for belief in anything but chance.

Following a local or national sports team is as illogical as following
a faith.

Following a political party or faith is no more worthy of your limited
lifetime than worshipping wealth or celebrity. It merely removes your
direct power over your course through life and passively places it in
the hands of others. You become a secondhand puppet to be jerked about
at will. You end up posting nonsense on newsgroups responding to trolls
with alternative viewpoints, going into bloody battle or placing bombs
in busses, trains or planes. All quite by chance.

Had you been born at any another time your belief system would
certainly not be as it is today.

Had you been born into another family your belief system would not be
as it is now.
The ownership of brothers and sisters may have more effect on your
belief system than anything else in your miserable or stimulating
existence.

Where you confronted by a time traveller you would call him god if from
the future. Or the devil resurrected if from the past. Where you the
time traveller what would you believe?

Had you been born on a planet with a few degrees difference in average
temperature you would believe you were in hell. Welcome to Africa?

Where you born into wealth you would not have the same belief system as
if you were born into slavery or the torture of subsistence.

Where you born intelligent you would have belief choices denied to many
others.

Where you born physically attractive your belief system would not be
that of a spotty nerd. You might end up a film star or a porn star.
Quite by chance. Not all spotty nerds are complete failures if they
believe in themselves.

Where you born female instead of the dominant male your belief system
would involve glass ceilings and working twice as hard to achieve half
the success. Or believing that all men have the right to rape and
torture you at will and give you aids, stone you, batter you, mutilate
you or set fire to you. Or cut your throat if you don't accept your
chosen partner decided by your parents.

Where you born into another language your ability to communicate with
the outside world be easy or completely impossible. All quite by
chance.

Where you born healthy you would have a different belief system to a
paraplegic.

Where you born blind you could not believe in the beauty of the night
sky.

Where you born near a star cluster you would not believe how boring it
is as seen from any other place.

Where you born into a cloudy world you would not believe anything
existed above the cloud bass.

Where born into a desert you would not believe in the ocean or forests.

Who cares if you live or die? That would depend on the local, national,
religious and racial belief systems too. Whether you believe in them.
Or not.

Whether you are bored by my scribblings will be a matter for your
belief system, mood, understanding, sympathy for rambling opinions and,
of course, chance.

It was quite by chance I looked in on this newsgroup tonight. Or so I
believe.
