I was interested in the Science vs the Engineering aspects as well as
the suspense; this despite the the fact that I already _knew_ both
landers had made it OK.

Still, in this age of 'too many channels' I find PBS continues to put
out stuff worth watching.
I've got this episode on VHS and it is indeed a great story about fixing
engineering problems up to the last minute. I've enjoyed reading histories
of the development of the Apollo program's lunar lander for the same reason.
If you get to attend Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Open House, you'll enjoy
visiting their machine shop where they actually make a lot of probe
hardware.
