In the spirit of Daniel Joseph Min, and all the other off-topic
cross-posting nuisances with plague sci.astro.amateur, I thought
I would provide some not-so-psychic predictions that amateur
astronomers can look forward to throughout the coming year.
11. An e-mail will make the rounds, alleging that on or about the
evening of August 27, Mars will be the size of the Full Moon, or
Rupert Murdoch's head, whichever is larger. This e-mail will be
vilified ad nauseam on this newsgroup. (Speaking of nausea, I
probably shouldn't have conjured the image of Murdoch's head
floating in the sky.)
12. Several beginning imagers will post links to their first attempts.
Pete Lawrence will reply with encouraging comments. So will
Anthony Ayiomamitis. Andrea Tasselli will call them crap.
13. Anthony will finally complete his analemma cycle.
14. Hydrogen-alpha solar observation will continue its rise. There
will be a modest run on pre-Meade Coronado instruments. Amateurs
will record impressive time-lapse video clips of prominences that
put today's efforts in the rear view mirror.
15. I will post two more Astronomical Games essays. Really.
16. Lots of people will enter the hobby, and lots of them will get help
on SAA. I still believe it. :)
