Comet McNaught NW Washington

Had figured to try viewing about 5:20 pm (PST), but went outside in the
street about 5:00 to see if there was a viewing space between buildings and
hills. Well, not a moment too soon! The sky was clear, for the first time in
weeks, and twilight had not yet begun, no stars or planets visible yet, but,
whoohoo..... there was Comet McNaught, big and bright with 7X50 binoculars,
just barely discernible in the bright sky without the binoculars. AND
rapidly disappearing behind the trees of an obstructing hill. Classic tail
curved magnificently towards the north, and although viewing time was
probably less than two minutes, I'm quite sure the broad tail tried to go in
two slightly different directions in the brightest part, nearer the head. If
I'd had my dumb 12X optical digital camera, I'm sure I could have captured
it. Could have. Could have. Could have.
