Online registration for the 2007 Shingletown Star Party - the biggest
and best Star Party in Northern California -
(http://www.shingletownstarparty.net) ends on July 1. Register by then
and save $10 off the price at the gate!
This year, in addition to some of the best skies in the United States,
the SSP will be practically dust free with all driving done on the
paved runway. We're also pleased to provide complimentary showers
(complete with a fresh clean towel to dry yourself off with), and for
the first time, we're going to have complimentary potable water
on-site along with cellular phone coverage (Cingular 3G), restroom
facilities with hand wash basins, our new "Meals on Wheels" service,
an on-site cafe with snow cones, and lattes (and even with soy milk if
you wish), vendors whose astronomy items you can examine prior to
purchase, a swap meet, along with an easy drive to enjoy all the
natural wonders and beauty of Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park in the
daytime.
SSP is all about observing. You can leave your telescope set up for
the entire week, so there's no need to set up and tear down each
night, wasting valuable observing time. And if your neighbor snores
too much, you can always feel free to move to another location along
the 2400 foot long runway!
Don't miss the Great Shingletown Binocular Shootout Friday night from
10 p.m. to midnight! Compare the views of at least 5 DSOs through a
30" Starmaster equipped with a Denkmeier II Binoviewer to the views
through a 22" binocular telescope! Votes will be tallied at the end
of the shootout.
And don't forget that when you register you are automatically entered
into the astronomer's raffle (please see the latest list of donations
here: http://shingletownstarparty.net/raffleprize_list.htm).
See you there!
