Just watched Apocalypto on DVD last night. The accelerated solar eclipse
sequence didn't bother me. (Would have added hours to the movie to show in
real time.) But it did bother me when they showed a full moon that same
night! Argh. Enjoyed the movie otherwise although i was hoping to see more
bare-chested women... ;-)
Why is it that people get upset when science *fiction* movies contain
*fiction* !?
I hope I'm not bursting a bubble for anyone when I note that Light
Sabers, the Warp Drive, and the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry also do not conform to the workings of the world as they are
generally understood. That does not matter to me because I suspend
disbelief when reading or watching SF or Fantasy. I'm also a pretty
soft critic for SF and Fantasy. If I don't like something I quit
reading or watching, but if I like it then I don't let little
inconsistencies annoy me.
Except for the lack of bare-breasted women. Now *that* is annoying.
Please forgive the minor correction, Florian: men may be bare-chested,
but topless women are bare-breasted.
