Perhaps enough of the messages have the same Complaints to: ab...@xxxxxxx
or some other common feature???
For the ones being posted here I am using a reject rule of the form:
/^Subject: .*\w\w+'s/h
Which kills any post with Subject involving a 3 or more letter word
ending apostrophe s.
Would that a similar rule would work in the other science ngs under
attack.
I will be seriously tempted to block everything from Suddenlink too if
they don't get their act together soon..
I like the astro in subject idea. I am saddened that this thing can go on.
It would help if somone could pull the plug on Suddenlink (or if their
customers abandonned them). It is high time that irresponsible ISPs
were held to account for the damage they inflict upon the rest of us.
Unfortunately it is getting worse very rapidly now with more and more
insecure and onfigured systems connected via broadband every day the
flood attacks will soon become unstoppable :(
Usenet was designed and based on trust for exchange of academic ideas
it cannot cope with malicious attacks of this type. Perhaps a few high
profile prosecutions of the miscreants would help or of their inciters
like DJ Min.
