My Friend Larry

For a while, I built and sold P-grams on Amart. I met many fine folks
in the process and made a friend or two along the way. One of these is
Larry, over the last three years we have discussed getting together
and doing some observing and hanging out, and this year things came
together well enough, we set a target date for the first week ov
November at Chiefland.

Larry was mauled by a vicious dog yesteday and barely escaped with his
life. He needed about 70 stitches about his head, his arm is badly
mangled (and infected, talked to him again this morn, surgery
tomorrow) he lost part of his nose, and somehow the dog even bit his
"fellows" if ya know what I mean. He was pretty messed up. Now while
Larry is lying there in his hospital bed, he calls me, to let me know
his vacation time will probably be used up with this injury and it
will affect, but not cancel our observing opportunity. I was deeply
moved, that a guy who just suffered such a traumatic event, the first
thing he wanted to do was call me and let me know....if only all men
were cut from the same cloth, this world would be a better place to
live in.

The dog, is some kind of "herd protecting pedigreed canine", that is
known to be able to take down bear and mountain lion. I forget the
name right now, but it is one bad S.O.B. The dog belongs to Larry's
sister, he was at her house to help her with some remodeling when the
attack occurred, after talking to Larry this morn, the dog (as it is
worth a lot of money) will try to be sold, instead of being put down.

anyone would like to send Larry a get well card, Id sure appreciate
the kind gesture.
