Still, I lament the greying out of the night sky, the dumbing down of
the next door neighbor, and the distancing of the natural environment
going on all around us.

Maybe if astronomy clubs that are supposedly in-part dedicating to
public education (RASC, are you listening?) would develop
relationships with news organizations, the spread of information about
transient but eye-catching events would be better?
