TeleVue's "Ethos." What choice did they have?

They are being assailed on all sides by eyepieces which are
substantially cheaper that also offer wide fields of view. The Ethos
puts them in another league, even at its stratospheric price. What I
wish would happen now is for some company like AstroPhysics to revive
the old Aspherical ortho design which also apparently had the
potential to offer 100 deg. fields coupled with an ortho's planetary
imaging excellence. The logic of having a 100 deg. field is somewhat
compromised in that you cannot clearly "take in" such a field size and
have to pan your eye around the field to appreciate it completely.
However, it beats having to move the scope to compensate for a
narrower field.
