Does anyone here have the new AP Binos? What do you think of them? Theonly
thing that is keeping me from ordering a pair is the weight. I guess it'sbut
not an issue if you use a tripod, but I may want to lay in a lounge chair
and hand-hold them. They appear to be a really good deal for the money,
maybe I should spend more money and get a bino that is physically lighter.

May the Force and a Wicked-Laser be with you!
I bought a pair of the 15x70s soon after they became available. They are
excellent binoculars, and a very good value for the money. They really do
need a tripod, although some people might be comfortable holding them for a
short period in a lawn chair. I am not sure you could find anything
comparable in a 15x70 that is lighter (lighter could mean undersized prisms,
for instance).
In an attempt to free up some room and money, and because I decided I'd
rather not combine binoculars with a tripod, I just sold mine. A friend
bought them, and spent an evening here test driving them. He is pretty
fussy, and gave them high marks. I'm actually rather glad I'll still be
able to look through them once in a while at our observing sessions.
Clear skies, Alan
