I tend to agree and have argued similarly with my local astro club.
Most schools never have any presence at night by students and teachers
to do any observing -- about the only way the scope would get used is
by some type of loaner program for students to take it home.

A youth club that does some camping or something that involves night
activities as a group would make better use of the scope.
