I am not saying that your donation was a bad idea, as I have no info
about this specific school/teacher. However, I always discourage folks
from donating scopes to our local schools. The teachers don't know how
to use a scope, and so it ends up stuck in a storage closet.


Dennis, i understand your concern and i'd not have just given the scope
without knowing it would get good usage. The teacher of this class knows
astronomy and already has a 8" Meade. He also teaches an astro class at the
local community college. My donation will let him have a scope available at
both campuses.
