As an enthusiastic beginner in the science and art of deep sky
observing -- the viewing of objects beyond our solar system such as
open or globular star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies -- I'm pleased to
report that the Garrett Optical 30mm 82-o 2.0" Ultra-Wide Angle Eyepiece
gives new meaning to the concept of a "rich-field telescope."
I am glad that you enjoy this eyepiece, especially since I too have found
inexpensive wide-field eyepieces to provide excellent value. However, and
since by your own description you are a beginning observer, you should
expect that as you gain experience and observe with better performing
eyepieces you will come to come to better appreciate the limitations of your
eyepiece(s). Some folks can't get past the limitations of these low/modest
cost eyepieces, and there is a reason that it is said that you shouldn't
observe with a 31mm Nagler unless you can afford one. I don't seem to have
this problem, and I pretty much enjoy whatever I am observing with at the
time. Don't forget that there is always Astromart, if you find that your
tastes/needs change as you gain experience.
Dennis
