I think you are wrong about the value of dark skies. Yes, the comet is
very bright and affords a nice sight even under light polluted skies.
But the outer extent of the coma, along with any developing tail
structure will certainly be limited by sky background. For those
interested in extracting maximum detail, either visually or by imaging,
dark skies are critical.
This isn't an ideal object for video/webcam imaging. It is too dim for
such cameras, and it is too large. The highest detail images are likely
to come from short exposures, possibly stacked, made by cooled CCD
cameras with moderately large sensors.
