I know that last night I could no longer see the dim outer envelop (about
a third the size of the moon) in my 20x80 binoculars after the moon came up.
I was observing from the dark skies of my rural NY home.

I noticed the same thing. When I started imaging, I was under extremely
dark skies and the extent of the comet was impressive in binoculars. A
couple hours later, with the Moon up, the comet appeared much smaller.
