What is that.... looks like a planet...

Yes, it's Venus. In fact, you can see three planets:

Mars is almost directly overhead -- its not as bright as Venus but you can
identify it because it is somewhat orange-red in color.

Above Venus is a "star" that viewed through binoculars is not round and not
a pinpoint of light -- it looks elliptical -- that's Saturn.

And Venus if the bright object in the East.
