Actually, that image looks rather poor (of course, the KAYUGA camera
isn't anything too wonderful, although it should do okay for continuum
sources like the Earth). Certainly, the low resolution and compromised
exposure don't help.
The color and saturation in the ESA image looks a lot more like the
thousands of images of Earth taken from the Shuttle and ISS. And as
noted previously, RGB offers no intrinsic advantage over OGB.
Manmade atmospheric pollutants will almost never be visible in a
whole-Earth image taken across visual wavelengths.
