Indeed. And if one can't conveniently produce filters with such
passbands, the next best thing would be to use four or more filters
from which suitable linear combinations could be extracted. Thus, SONY
makes some digital cameras with a fourth color, a shade of green they
call "Emerald".

I have a Nikon that also has 4 colors. It renders greens very nicely.
But I the more useful change to the bayer filters would be to add
a little extra short wavelength pass ont he red filter in the region
of violet, so that the camera sees violet at least as some shade of
purple, rather than just flat blue.

Take a picture of a rainbow from a prism and all you get is red-orange-
yellow-green-cyan-blue-blue.
