Maya long calender ends on Dec 12 2012, many doomsday scenarios exist out there about this day.
Looking it my Starry night program for that day, shows interesting planetary alignment.
Dec 12 2012 all planets will be up in the sky, including the Moon and Pluto.
Sun is rising up in the Milky way, just below the Eagle nebula.
For Free masons represents the rise of the Phoenix!
This suppose to be the end of Earths precession, occurs every 26,000 years.
Any comments, corrections from the more knowledgeable?

Precession is a continuous process and doesn't 'end', it just keeps
going. It's rather like saying that the earth has reached the 'end' of
its orbit around the sun.

Correct and NOT!
The Earth's rotation axis is not fixed in space. Like a rotating toy top, the direction of the rotation axis executes a slow precession with a period of 26,000 years.
Maya calender took this in account very accurately.
Not bad for savages in the jungle 3 thousands years BC, no optics or computers, while 1500 AD Europe they were still arguing about if the Earth was flat!
