the geocentric model works equally well.

The only geocentric model that works even moderately as well as the
heliocentric one is the Tychonic model, in which the Sun and Moon both
revolve around the Earth, and everything else, more or less, revolves
around the Sun.  The Ptolemaic model, in which everything revolves
around the Earth, doesn't work, because Mercury and Venus are at
various times either between us and the Sun, or on the far side of the
Sun.

However, the detection of the so-called "aberration of light" made even
the Tychonic model much less palatable, from the point of view of
simplicity, than the heliocentric one:

The discovery of parallax did the same, but made it even more obvious
and simple to understand:

However, strictly speaking, your niece is correct: You *can* arrange
things so that the Earth is at the center of the universe.  You can even
arrange things so that you, personally, are at the center of the
universe, even when you are spinning around.  In order to so arrange it,
though, you must set the Einsteinian tensor fields to something wholly
ungainly.  The universe is much simpler when you or the Earth are not at
its center. :)

The reason these miserable questions exist is because that really
stupiid man intrroduced a belief that the Earth around the Sun was the
same as the Sun around the Earth by introducing celestial sphere
astrology into heliocentric reasoning -

primary planets, and (whether of the sun about the earth, or) of the
earth about the sun, are in the sesquiplicate proportion of their mean
distances from the sun. " Newton

Because you have no feeling for heliocentric reasoning you have no
idea what Newton was doing here and where he is coming from but I
certainly do.Apart from retrogrades the main argument for the Earth's
motion was based on the 'periodic times',a beautiful line of reasoning
vandalised by Newton and his punk followers.The actual periodic times

apparent movement of the Sun has 365 days which is the mean measure

Again,you are no better or worse than the detractor of Starlord,you
try to sound different but ultimately you try to rob astronomy of its
magnificence and its dignity.Trying to invoke Tycho or the false
reasoning of Bradley just to protect the astrologically based concepts
of Newton cannot conceal the basic error but it soes reveal how
miserable you are as human beings.
