I don't know what their current production runs are like, but my MTO
10/1000 Mak mirror lens isn't at all bad. I have seen worse specimens
too. It makes a handy portable 4" spotting scope when space is
limited. Image is a little bit soft but otherwise fine. One thing is
that at least the version I have was intended primarily as a T2 mount
telephoto lens so the back focus is a bit restricted with no space for
a right angle prism.

It's more expensive at $475 versus the Orion 4" at $319. Why?

Dunno. I paid about £100 for mine more than a decade ago.
